Life is way too short and Eternity is
far too long for us not to Care
An ancient document that was written by a physician and historian
named Luke, tells about an incident that took place between Jesus Christ and his followers. This document tells us about a
time when Jesus' followers came to him. They were so excited because they had just returned from a trip that Jesus had
sent them on. They had fed the poor, miraculously healed
the sick and crippled, and even cast demonic spirits out of helpless people.
Wouldn't you agree that these
are definitely things that would be exciting to experience?
Wouldn't you agree that helping people in this
manner are important things to live for?
When Jesus' followers came to him, Luke's document tells us that they
were full of joy because of their exciting journey where they impacted so many peoples lives for good (Luke 10:17).
When we read about Jesus' response to his followers we
discover that there is something that God places before everything else in a persons' life, even you and I doing "GOOD
DEEDS" for others. The "something" that God places most important before everything else in our lives is found
in Jesus' response to his followers.
Jesus
tells them, "Do not rejoice" because of all of the good things you are doing for others, nor because God has given
you power over demons. Jesus tells them that they should rejoice because their names "are registered in heaven"
(Luke 10:20).
Jesus tells
us the most important thing that we can live for is Eternity. Jesus says the thing that we should be most excited about in
life is that our names are "Registered in Heaven."
How can I know if my name is "Registered in Heaven" or not?
